The ‘Solutions and Tools’ sector aims to provide students and the university community with everything is needed to study and facilitate activities related to university life; it is proposed in different ways in the different locations, interpreting students’ needs and requirements.
Among the active services, the traditional Book Sector includes Publishing, which enhances and facilitates the academic teaching activities with the production of courses materials, and the Distribution of Publications and Materials prepared by EDUCatt, alongside the Loan, the Deposit and Sale of used books.
These are flanked by other services such as the Digital HUB, the eSharing service and the more recent Service.23 on the Rome campus, which also offer innovative tools and opportunities designed to facilitate university studies.
1. Purchase of publications
Most of the publications prepared by EDUCatt have been available in digital format on the main distribution platforms (StreetLib, IBS, Bookrepublic) for some time now, but the number of titles has been further increased, including those from previous years.
Study materials
A platform has also been released for the internal distribution of study materials only, in addition to the other already existing possibilities: here too, to gain access, all you have to do is to register using your icatt email address and purchase the titles of interest, which you will then be able to download from the email of the completed order, or directly from your personal account created when registering on the site.
The entire digital offer is aimed at students on all Università Cattolica campuses.

E-book publications
With a view to optimising tools and in line with the latest publishing trends towards dematerialisation, EDUCatt has partnered with StreetLib and Univeroo.
- StreetLib is a distribution platform for electronic publishing through which EDUCatt makes its publications available also in digital format. EDUCatt‘s e-books can be purchased from the leading online bookshops. To find out which publications are available as e-books, you can consult the StreetLib catalogue.
- Univeroo allows you to check the availability of both new and used texts. You can search by title, author or ISBN code, and choose which text you want to book. To find out what publications are available, you can consult the Univeroo catalogue.

2. Used books
The Milan sale service of second-hand books offers the possibility of leaving the volumes adopted in the University courses free of charge and obtaining the price set after the sale, which is communicated to the owners by email. The owners can also check the sale of their volumes directly online. Always online, all volumes of interest can be purchased at an average of 50% of the cover price by consulting the availability catalogue.
The service is free of charge and is intended for all Cattolica students, but more generally, EDUCatt – responding to its vocation as a body for the Right to University Study – allows anyone who requests it to use it.
Used books service – Milan
Deposited books are kept for 12 months and can be collected at the service counters, upon presentation of the deposit receipt, up to 12 months from the date on which the book was sold.
Please note that the existence of a title in the catalogue does not imply the availability of the copy of that volume at the time of purchase, which must be made directly on EDUCatt’s premises in Milan.

3. Loan
On Università Cattolica campuses in Milan, Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona and Rome, EDUCatt offers all students the possibility to borrow up to six texts adopted in their courses, free of charge, for two months, with the possibility of a 30-day extension. Thanks to the inter-campus library loan formula, students in the Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona and Rome sites can request the loan of books available in EDUCatt catalogue by booking them online and receiving them in the UCSC library of their seat where the Service desks are located.
Access to borrowing is governed by specific regulations, which must be read in order to use the service.
BOOK LOAN REGULATIONS
The loan service is active in Milan, and inter-campus loans are available in Brescia, Piacenza-Cremona, and Rome.
- The service is available to students who can prove they are duly enrolled in undergraduate, diploma, master’s, or specialization courses at Università Cattolica.
- The loan service is free of charge.
- Loans are limited to a maximum of 6 books.
- Book requests are subject to prior reservation and the presentation of a valid ID at the time of collection.
- The loan period is set at 60 days. Subject to availability, all books may be renewed for an additional period of approximately 30 days, provided the request is made before the due date.
- Renewals may be requested either through the My Library page or by phone.
- The student borrowing the book is responsible for it and must check its condition upon receipt. If books are not returned in the same condition, the student must replace them with an intact copy of the same edition or of a more recent one. Only in exceptional cases may payment of an amount equivalent to the cover price of the most recent edition be authorized.
- Failure to return borrowed books by the due date will result in suspension of borrowing privileges until the situation is regularized (e.g., 2 books returned 3 days late each = 6 days of suspension). This also applies to borrowing from the University Library.
- To recover unreturned books, EDUCatt reserves the right to take legal action against defaulting students. Any student who graduates, withdraws, or transfers to another university must have no outstanding obligations with the Book Loan Service. This check is carried out automatically.

- When you have found the book you want in the online catalogue, click on ‘Request’ and the ‘My Library’ access page – where you must identify yourself (*) – will open. Then click on ‘Confirm request’ and then on ‘Request selected copy’. A booking confirmation screen will open and after about 30 minutes you will be able to pick up your book at the Educatt Counter at the University Central Distribution Desk. On Milan campus only, bookings made before 4.45 p.m. are processed on the same day; bookings made after that time are processed on the next day. The student has 2 working days to collect the booked books.

Digital HUB is the integrated service of online digital resources that EDUCatt has designed for students. The service is offered through the platforms Pandoracampus and MediaLibraryOnLine (MLOL) and is promoted by Fondazione ENDISU within the project Piazza dello Studente. The media library provides a wide variety of content in digital format. The offer adds up to the academic resources made available by the university’s library and document system, with different purposes and coverage of titles and media.
Digital HUB is a service available to all Università Cattolica students in Milan, Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona and Rome.
How to access Digital HUB
Pandoracampus is the multi-publisher digital platform that allows users, online and on tablets (by downloading the app from the App Store), to register and create their own profile based on personalised study needs.
Università Cattolica students can borrow more than 600 titles free of charge: about 475 from Mulino and another 150 published by Carocci, Città Studi Edizioni, Isedi, Le Monnier Università, Mondadori Università and Utet. The loan lasts 3 months from the date the request is activated, and an extension of max 30 days can be made independently.
The platform offers a dedicated area to each user in which it is possible to set a timetable with the objectives to be achieved, consult complete manuals or individual chapters, and verify one’s own exam preparation.
Another function that has been implemented and which completes the Pandoracampus offering is Ultra, a new study assistant, combining artificial intelligence and certified content from the platform’s textbooks. It offers active learning support through chapter-based questions, accompanied by answers, explanations, suggestions, and assessments that help consolidate understanding and monitor progress. For those who use the loan service, Ultra is already included in the digital edition of compatible titles borrowed. It is accessible directly within each chapter of the book, in the resources section.
How to access Pandoracampus
The student must:
- login to Pandoracampus using the domain @icatt.it;
- access the page where there is the list of volumes to be requested;
- click on ‘Request loan’.
The system makes a lot of ebooks adopted in courses, the main Italian and foreign newspapers, lots of music and other contents available:

How to access Medialibrary
To gain access, you need to register online by filling in a form.
On the DigitaBook platform, more than 200 titles used in university courses are available, including textbooks, monographs, professional works, and research materials. Management, marketing, economics, accounting, finance, law, and IT are just some of the subject areas covered.
- Fully customizable offering: the system allows users to control the number of simultaneous accesses for the same title, verify loan duration, and set a restriction period for renewal of the same title.
- Availability notifications: if the maximum number of simultaneous loans for a title is reached, an email notification is sent as soon as the book becomes available again.
- Integrated “Notebook” section: the text can be worked on using features such as highlighting, cutting, adding comments, and more.
- Accessibility and learning tools: navigation is designed to meet diverse student needs through the “Accessibility” section, which includes support features, and the “Exercises” section for completing online activities.
Access to the service is available at the provided link by entering the appropriate credentials. Authentication is carried out via IDEM: after selecting the institution (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore), username (without domain) and password must be entered (for example, for students: giulia.rossi01).
4. Other study tools
The aim pursued by the Foundation is to facilitate access to the basic technological tools needed for courses and in-depth study and, in general, to support the users in their education path. With this aim in mind, eSharing was created: a loan service of study tools made available to the university community and based on quality and attention to the needs of those who study or work at Università Cattolica.
The service, which can be accessed by filling in an online form, is available to Università Cattolica students, teaching and technical-administrative staff, and includes the loan of portable and fixed personal computers, tablets and wi-fi connection devices.
To borrow a PC, simply make a reservation by filling in the form or by sending an email to esharing@educatt.org, and pick up your portable workstation at Container.9. In other locations the devices can be picked up at EDUCatt reception. The cost varies depending on the duration chosen by the user, according to these rates:
- 2 weeks: €50
- 4 weeks: €75
- 3 months: €175
- 6 months: €300
eSharing also includes the use of:
- Windows 10 Professional
- Open Office (a complete open-source document processing suite)
- Microsoft Office 365, to be activated with personal use
There is a non-interest-bearing security deposit of €100 for the 4-week rental period, €200 for the 3-month rental period and €350 for the 6-month rental period. If, for whatever reason, a device is not delivered by the deadline, a penalty of €50 shall be charged for each week of delay. The reservation is valid for 24 hours; if the collection is not made within this period, the portable workstation will be made available again for other users. The reservation is personal; the portable workstation must therefore be collected by the same user who makes the reservation, showing their university identification card (badge) together with the email confirming the reservation.

- for Università Cattolica students, teaching and administrative staff with a contribution of €25/month (€20 for fewer days, at least 15);
- for EDUCatt staff with a contribution of €15/month (€10 for less than 15 days).
Payment of the fee can be made upon delivery of the device, based on the expected return with possible balance based on the actual period of use.

The device is supplied freshly initialised and, when returned, must retain the same unchanged characteristics (it is recommended not to remove the sim or change the pin). In this case the fee is €30/week (€15/week on request).

In a context in which prudence and awareness are increasingly essential in accessing and using electronic devices and when using applications and personal data, EDUCatt informs about certain risks and recommends certain behaviours to the university community, for a fearless approach to technology, inspired by correct daily actions and conscious attitudes.
